The CartoGoo Environmental GPS system is ideal for recording most types of Environmental data. In a sense it’s like using a GPS “Post-it-Notes” on the real world.
CartoGoo has a direct interface with Google Earth and in the field will display your GPS position on the Google Earth map at all times. This includes Satellite imagery, Aerial Photos, and the standard maps.

Environmentalists can wander about on the maps and use the GPS to record “Notes” on any position of interest. These can be the Sample Positions like Soil, Water, and Air samples, or they can be area (polygon) items like soil type. In the case of areas the user just walks around the area of interest and CartoGoo will automatically draw the boundary. With either Area or Point items the user is then presented with data form to enter the information. This makes Data recording quick and simple.

All data in CartoGoo is stored in KML format. This format will export directly to Google Earth when back at the office, and it can be exported to Microsoft Excel, Shape Files, or a variety of other formats.
